Some of us here in the neighborhood have occasionally been guilty of wimpy thank-yous, but Dr. Mark Goulston has shown us a sure fire way to sincerely express meaningful gratitude. This is right up there among the great life lessons we have learned. Just in time for Thanksgiving!

POWER THANK YOU

By Dr. Mark Goulston

Make giving thanks the centerpiece of your Thanksgiving by having each person give a Power Thank You. It has 3 parts:

Part 1: Thank someone for something specific that they did for you (it can also be something they refrained from doing that would have hurt you).

Part 2: Acknowledge the effort it took for them to do it (by saying something like: “I know you didn’t have to do —-” or “I know you went out of your way to do —-”).

Part 3: State the difference it personally made to you.

Dr. Goulston has lots more great things to say on his Useable Insight Blog. CLICK HERE to see his blog, and be sure to sign up for his newsletter while you’re at it!
